If you want a coffeemaker, look no further

I have this one in black, and have been making coffee at least once a day for the past three weeks. I was debating between this 10-cup thermal ($80), the 12-cup thermal ($130), and the 12-cup glass carafe with warming plate ($80), all by Cuisinart. In the end, I wanted something that used less electricity, so I went with the thermal. The added bonus with a thermal is that the coffee taste doesn't change from your first cup to your second cup a few hours later. I finally decided to save $50 and buy the 10-cup thermal because everything else was the same except for the 10 ounce difference (both coffeemakers brew 5 oz cups). I purchased mine from a different store, and I found out that there was no gold cone filter. I called up Cuisinart and they said depending on where you purchased the coffeemaker, it may use paper cones, or it may come with the gold cone filter. They graciously sent me a gold cone for free. So after 3 weeks:

PROS:

easy to set up, easy to use
charcoal water filter (I use tap water, so I like the fact that the machine filters it before going into my coffee)
auto brew timer (the smell of coffee helps me wake up in the morning and I am fully brain dead when I first wake up. I can barely get dressed, much less make coffee. So I set it up the night before and I have amazing, fresh coffee ready for me in the AM).

coffee stays fresh for at least 4 hours. On weekends, I set my coffee to brew as normal at 7AM, but sometimes I sleep late until 11AM or later. I go to pour my coffee and it's still steaming! (and not burnt from the warming plate)

I can use both paper cone filters or the gold cone filter. The gold cone is just as easy to clean as the disposable paper cones. I just shake out the grinds into the trash, and rinse with water. SO easy. And I save money because I don't have to buy filters!
I drink my coffee black, so I can tell good coffee from bad coffee. I also like my coffee strong and bold. When I'm lazy, I use Illy medium grind, medium roast pre-ground. One mountainous scoop (comes with the coffeemaker) per 10 oz. of coffee. My one mug of coffee is equal to the coffeemaker's two cups, so yes, the machine makes 5 mugs total. When I make coffee for just myself, I fill the reservoir to 2 cups, add one giant scoop of coffee to the filter, press the 1-4 cups button, turn the dial to brew, and press "on." I love it.
I have no problem with the size of the machine (I thought it was small). It is sitting on a side table in my tiny kitchen, not on the countertop or underneath cabinets. So I can easily flip up the top and have easy access to the water reservoir. It is also on the right side of the table, so I just use a cup and pour water into the reservoir. I don't think it's hard at all to pour water in. The triangular opening is on the right, back corner of the machine and is about 3" x 3" x 4".
The water level is very clearly marked and easy to see on the right side of the machine.

CONS:

The beep is not just one cute beep. It is 4 or 5 beeps in a row. This could be annoying to some people.
Not really a con for me, but other people have commented on the pouring as "difficult." I think it is the nature of a thermal carafe to require some patience when pouring into a cup. It is well sealed to keep the coffee hot, so when you pour, the liquid has to go through a maze to get out. On my last cup, I just take the top off and pour. Definitely worth the "effort." It's really not hard, I promise. :)
I read reviews of how people wake up with coffee all over the counter because the carafe was clogged at the top. So whenever I set up the machine to brew, I make sure to rinse the top with hot water and shake it around a bit to make sure the little ball isn't stuck. Also, not difficult to do.
I guess if you don't have easy access to the right side of this machine, it could be difficult to pour water in and see the water level. If it's in the middle of your countertop, you may have to turn it to the side in order to pour the water in. For me, it's easy because my coffeemaker sits on the right side of a table in my kitchen.

I am so glad I went with this machine. I hope it lasts for a long time.

Wonderful coffee maker

I purchased this coffeemaker after careful research and like it very much. It makes delicious coffee that stays hot for about 4 hours. The coffee retains good flavor for the whole time. It is also easy to clean. With a regular coffee pot (not thermal), the coffee loses its flavor after an hour. This one meets my needs. Also, Cuisinart warranties it for 3 years. I have owned a grind and brew coffee maker and prefer this one which I use in conjunction with my grinder.

It isn't perfect, but the small drawbacks don't bother me. Yes, it is a little hard at first to read the fill markings for water. To get the last bit of coffee out of the carafe, you do have to take off the lid and really tilt the carafe. On the other hand, that last bit tastes good.

I also like the looks of this device. The stainless steel goes with many other appliances. Overall, it is a recommend.

Our coffee maker is a jewel
There are just two of us so a large 10 cup machine is not practical so we bought this beautiful little machine for our kitchen. To date it has worked flawlwessly, everything the Ad professed. I wonder about the missuse some others have experienced that have caused them problems. We have had none of that.. I do wish there was a permanent filter available, I don't like the paper ones. But small price to pay for excellance

The perfect coffee maker for one or two people
I have had this machine for a little over a week now, and am overjoyed. I have owned more expensive "full-size" machines, and have always found that the quality of the coffee they make is quite poor when you are only preparing three or four cups. This cuisinart is a pleasant change on that score. The coffee I made this morning was flavorful and hot, and certainly better than what I can get at Starbucks or the equivalent. I'm a bit baffled by the negative comments I have read about the machine's design. I've had not even a little trouble with pouring, removing the lid, etc. In short, get this machine if you want high quality coffee in three or four cup doses.

Very satifying dark whole bean coffee
I've been using this bean for the past year when making my own dark whole bean blend. It has a rich, warm taste and never a hint of over roasting. It is great by itself as well, but when blended with other beans it allows me to create a complex flavor. The price is reasonable as well.

Great Dark Roast Coffee
I have long enjoyed Cafe Altura's dark roast coffees. They have a rich, bold flavor and the actual beans smell freshly roasted. Also, it is nice to have a fair-traded, organic coffee at this price.

Good, cheap, and organic.
Got two big bags of this for about $17. Thought it might not be too good -- it was very good, smooth, and tasty :) Not at all bitter or acidic. I bought more already! Great deal great coffee.

A Fantastic Roast that's Earth Friendly
I was looking for a dark roast that was also organic. Amazon happened to have a great special on this coffee. I was not disappointed at all and have bought this product again, after the special expired. It's a quality coffee with a rich taste. As a bonus, it's grown the "right" way through organic/biodynamic methods. If you care about environmentally-friendly farming and/or supporting small farms, this is a product you should consider.

I use these beans with a burr grinder and a French press. The beans are very oily, as French roast ought to be. They are packaged well, but I highly recommend placing them in an airtight container after you open the bag.

The taste is phenomenal. If you like bold and dark coffees, this French roast is the way to go. The taste is very strong, but acidic. Cafe Altura also has other beans available if you're looking for a lighter roast. Overall, this is the best coffee I've purchased from Amazon. If the company has another two-for-one special, I'm going to order a ton a Cafe Altura beans!

SUPER VALUE & GREAT COFFEE RESULTS
This was a replacement coffee maker for a 4 cup MR. Coffee that stopped working. The best feature is it makes 5 cups, so if you are using a larger mug you can get 2 full servings with each pot. The timer is easy to operate and works perfectly. I never used a steel mesh reusable coffee filter before but it works surprisingly well, but it adds one more thing to wash. Even finely ground coffee does not pass through the reusable filter. Paper coffee filters can be used as well. It can be purchased at Linen-n-Things for $15 with their 20% off coupons. A steal-of-a-deal at that price. The only negative about Black & Decker products is replacement parts (glass pot, filter) are generally not available at retail stores and sometimes they have limited availability since models come and go quickly. But for the price of this unit a complete replacement is less than a couple cups of coffee at Starbucks.

Best coffee maker at the given price
This is my first coffee maker. I have been a native tea drinker. I started drniking coffee since the past 6 months and bought Black and Decker as it is supposed to be a popular brand with coffee makers. I was amazed to find that Black and Decker had delivered a great product at the given price. The reusable permanent filter was a great add-on. It saved me couple of buks that I would have spent on paper filters. The coffee maker serves dual purpose because amazingly I can also brew light tea using the same filter. The programmable option allows me to prepare coffee before I wake up and the machine keeps it warm for 2 hours before it shuts down. All in all I am very satisfied with the product.

If you prefer a smooth cup of coffee
I purchased this item after reading through the reviews on Amazon. I have to say that I haven't been disappointed. The cups contain a blend of arabica and kona coffee. They brew with a nice aroma and color. I would describe them as a medium roast with a medium strength. Depending on your mood you can adjust the strength by adjusting the cup size and changing your creamer. I've had success using whole milk, half and half, and light cream, with light cream being the best in my opinion.

The taste is mellow and very smooth. I have read other reviews here that have described them as weak or tasteless. This is simply not the case. I would compare it to the coffee from Dunkin Donuts. If you prefer your coffee extra bold, dark roasted, or strong (Starbucks) then you are just not going to be happy with these. Also, if you prefer to "double brew" your cups to get the most for your money, you will be very disappointed. These will brew a delicious cup of coffee, but only if you use them as directed. Finally I have to say that Amazon is the best place to buy these. They have the best prices and fast shipping. Add this to your subscribe and save to get 15% extra off.

Well... This was the very first k-cups that I got for my Keurig machine. I was perhaps expecting too much by the word "Kona" coffee. Of course, 10% Kona beans wouldn't make the coffee anything resembling the real thing. I was a little disappointed at first. By the way... I only tried Kona coffee once before when a friend of mine brought me a 1/2 lbs of beans from Hawaii. It was a long time ago and frankly speaking I don't quite remember how it was. I just remember that I liked it. ^^

Anyway... I kept thinking it was good but not that good until I tried other K-cups. Then I realized this Kona blend is better than regular blends or coffees. Don't get me wrong. They are still not "Kona" but comparing to other coffee, you can taste that nutty flavor. It's smoother and distinctive.

I got variety packs to test out other k-cups but am happy that I got two boxes of Kona blend. Perhaps next time, I will try other company's Kona blends and see the difference between Timothy's and others.

Very Nice cup of coffee
I like this one a lot!! Its not very bold, and not weak either. Just a nice smooth blend. I like to have this mid day or after dinner. My favorite is the Coffee People Donught Shop, but that is too strong for the evening. I get this through the subscribe and save which makes it a great value as well.

Dark is best
I found the mild was undrinkable and the medium barely tolerable. But the dark roast is quite good. Its on the Starbuck-type bitter side, but not as strong. None of these single serving coffee machines will taste like fresh ground. That is why you get some one star reviews for the Senseo.

I keep the Senseo in my office for hassle-free single servings and it is great for that. Even the dark roast is really not strong enough to qualify as espresso, so I suggest you just use the double packets and make a large cup.

Here is a further hint. Use a 10 oz cup, not a standard 8. Then put your milk in the cup and microwave for 30 seconds BEFORE you make the coffee. After coffee is make make sure to stir with a stirrer. Stirring is important and is actually recomended by Philips.
As long as your expectations are down to earth you should enjoy this product. The machine itself has been flawless and doesnt seem flimsy at all.

Great for convenient coffee--not home roast!
Sure, Sarah Lee and the pholks at Philips think this baby produces the best coffee you'll ever taste. It doesn't. The snotty coffee folks, like myself, roast our own coffee and it is utterly superior. However it is a royal PITA to tote fresh beans into the office and I'm the only one willing to go to that much trouble for coffee in my office.

To solve this little problem, I purchased a Senseo and these pleasant Douwe Egberts Dark pods! It's a sturdy machine, completely employee-proof, and quite tidy. The coffee it produces is far better than anything that comes in a can and certainly will give Starbucks a run for their $6 venti's.

Think of the DE pods as an easy way to get fresh, hot, pleasant coffee in about 30 seconds. Use two pods, one dark and one medium for a fuller flavor profile or, if you're a low-caf freak, do one decaf and one caf.

I agree with another reviewer that you've gotta pre-warm the mug you're using if you like hot coffee-and the best way to do this is with some leche in the microwave. One final tip which out to assuage some of the folks who think the DE's are weak:

Run a few seconds of hot water through the machine without a pod inside. This gets the metal plates wet and hot. A good thing. Put your pods on the wet plates and close the machine. Let it sit for a few seconds. This lets the coffee get wet and swell a bit. This is called pre-infusion in the espresso trade and if you pull your 8 oz of pleasure now, it will taste pretty darned good.

Warning: highly addictive!
Senseo recently released several flavored varieties. Having always been partial to hazelnut coffee and being the happy owner of a Senseo coffee maker, I just had to give this new flavor a try. Well, let me tell you... I'm hooked! There is so much rich flavor in this coffee it's hard to believe the drink is calorie-free. It has the complex, subtle, thick texture and flavor of a fat- and carb-laden drink. If you've been worrying lately about the effects of your daily Caramel Macchiato on your waistline (not to mention your wallet) you have to give this coffee a try. It's wonderful and guilt-free! The pods are a little more expensive than regular varieties (the package is the same price but there are slightly fewer pods per bag) but boy is it worth that little extra!

This flavor was all I needed to decide me to buy a second Senseo machine for my office. It's very quiet and doesn't bother my cube neighbors, and it's already paid for itself because I no longer spend a fortune at the coffee shop for mediocre coffee: I have my "candy bar in a cup" (to quote Paula) right at my desk.

Senseo has a winner with this one... Give it a try!

Better tasting than the Dark Roast pods
I loved the idea and ease of the Senseo, but I was never that crazy about the way the coffee tasted. The grocery stores do not offer much in the way of variety, so I decided to take a chance and order the Columbia Blend from Amazon. I have been very happy with the flavor of it compared to what I had been getting.

If you are up for a change and want a smoother flavor, but still a strong tasting coffee. Give it a try!

I will note that the bag only comes with 16 pods vs. 18 in the regular bags.

Each to his own I guess - but we love Senseo coffee!
As a very frugal spender, I had observed this new design of coffee making in the stores and thought the process made sense - so I was ecstatic to receive an email of a promotion one day, I drove many miles to save some bucks and continue to be pleased beyond belief with every new kind of coffee we try. We didn't like the competing cheaper brands but we find Douwe Egbert's Senseo brands consistently delicious.

The flavors are subtle enough that we don't feel we're drinking a cup of chemicals. If you like strong coffee, then stick to the 4 oz per pod suggestion. If that seems strong or bitter, we find we can get 2 or 3 more ounces from the pod and be very pleased. For the first time in my 30 year marriage, my husband doesn't make a point of commenting on the delicious coffee everytime we eat out - finally we have predictable great coffee at home. Being able to serve guests their choice of tea, flavors, or caffeine and have everyone enjoy the first cup out is a wonderful benefit.

Very happy with my purchase!
The Keurig B-40 makes excellent, well flavored coffee... in a snap! It tastes just as good as a brewed cup with a traditional coffee maker, it does NOT taste like it came from a vending machine.

The only con is minor: the 7.25 ounce serving size. This is perfect for a coffee cup, but a large coffee mug will require you to brew 2 k-cups. But brewing is so quick, that you can brew both K-cups within 30 seconds.

The B-40 is an excellent choice for a model. Because brew cycles are so fast, you do not need the timer option that comes with the B-50 or B-60. The B-50 also offers a smaller cup brew option, but trust me - you won't need it. The B-40 also comes with an auto-off feature that will turn off the machine 2 hours after the last brew, which is great if you worry you may forget to. (If you drink coffee throughout the day, you can disable this feature too.)

Once again addicted to coffee!
After several years of laboring over our home coffee machine for mediocre coffee, or waiting in line to spend $$$$ at our local coffeehouse, my husband and I began to consider coffee as just an occasional treat. However, I gave the Keurig B-40 to my husband as a gift, and not a single day has gone by that we have not enjoyed it! It is so easy - just pop in the k-cup, press the brew button, and you have a great cup of coffee or tea. It is perfect for us - we drink about two cups each day with no mess or fuss. The coffee is great - lots of variety in the choices. Check out the different vendors online and you can really save money on the k-cups. We have experimented with ours - making iced tea or iced coffee by using a tall glass of ice instead of the usual mug.

I can even use my own tea bags - the Keurig heats up the water very quickly and makes it easy. One of the downsides with this model is that you can't adjust the size (and it is a small serving). To fill up a large mug you might need two or three cycles. You also can't adjust the strength of the brew - your only option is to choose a dark or light roast to vary the intensity. However, both of us have found several flavors that we really enjoy, and our guests are always impressed that they can choose their own blend and flavor! We also tried the Tassimo and the Senseo brands, and found the flavor to be lacking (much more mediocre). If you are a true coffee fan, and want a professionally styled machine that makes it simple and fast to make, then the Keurig B-40 is for you!

the best of the best
My husband and I are crazy about Coffee People k-cups. A friend gave us a box of the "Donut Shop" cups and they are spectacular. Very rich and bold, not bitter, but packs a nice punch. Reminds me of coffee from an old-fashioned percolator. A good, strong cup of coffee is hard to come by when you are using some of these newer brewing machines, but the Keurig system is definitely the exception and this variety of k-cup is the best we have ever tasted.

Wake Up To Caffienated Perfection!
We purchased a Keurig brewing system early this year, so we've been trying out as many different varieties of coffee as possible. This coffee is -- BAR NONE -- the best of the bunch. It is rich, syrupy and just a bit sweet. My experience, thus far, has been that the K-Cups listed as "extra bold" produce the best cups of coffee, but many of those are only available in dark roasts, while I prefer a medium roast. If you're a fan of a good, old fashioned diner-style cup of coffee (like what you can get if you go to Dunkin Donuts or somewhere like that), then this is the brew for you. We love it and make sure we always have some on hand.

Great bold coffee
The donut shop coffee is delicious. Most of the K-cups I have tried are on the weak side, so I was pleasantly surprised that this coffee was strong and had a great flavor.

Marriage saver
This nifty little coffeemaker is difficult to find in stores, so I was glad to see it at Amazon. It saved my marriage because my spouse doesn't drink coffee (hates the stuff) and there's no pot to clean. Even though it comes with a huge mug, the coffee tastes best when you use it with a normal china mug or cup, and with beans that are ground fine. I'm on my second one -- it lasts about four to five years in daily use. Not bad for the money. I won't drink coffee that's been sitting for more than five minutes, so the Brew 'n Go is perfect. If you're the only Joe drinker in the house, it's an absolute must!

Great Coffee With No Fuss
I read the reviews before ordering this personal coffee maker, and since some people had 'overflow problems' and some talked about coffee not being quite hot enough, I almost didn't get it.

Glad I went ahead. First, I put a small tray under the coffee maker in case of an overflow...I also always use a No. 1 size Mellita Filter in the basket, which makes it easier to clean and may help with the overflow problem, since I have never had that happen.

I use Folger's Classic Roast and use one and a half scoops with a regular size coffee scooper..I fill the cup within about 1/2" of the top and pour it in...put the cup in place, click the switch and ......perfectly hot, full bodied coffee every time with no problems at all so far...have used it about 20 times.

It makes a great large cup of coffee and the mug has a very comfortable feel to it. This coffee maker comes in handy when you don't want to mess with a full pot and it is very fast. I couldn't be more pleased - well worth the price!

Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket.

To brew, lift the lid and swing the water outlet spout to one side while the filter is being loaded; the spout will return to its proper position when the lid is closed. A small red ball in the water gauge makes it extra simple to read. And an electronic clock module also serves as a timer that will start the brewer at a specified time. The carafe's lid is designed to be on during brewing, with a small cap to help keep the heat in after it's ready. The Fresh Brew also has a pause-and-serve function that stops the flow for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is served.

To clean the brewer unit, use a solution of white vinegar and water, following the instructions in the accompanying booklet. The unit is not immersible. The exterior can be wiped with a damp soft rag; do not use abrasives or scouring pads. The filter reservoir is removable; clean with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. The coffee brewer measures 15 by 12 by 9 inches (includes carafe handle when unit is completely assembled), and it uses #4 cone-shaped disposable paper filters. Are you kidding me?
I'm reading the other reviews and I'm quite shocked!!!
This is absolutely one of the best commercial coffee blends you can find out there. not too bitter not to sweet, excellent crema, delightful!
I have a Gaggia espresso machine, I drink it every morning and occasionally make cappuccino to my guests, they all L-O-V-E it.
Warmly recommended, light years better than the sour-greasy-burnt American coffee (Starbucks, Seattle's Best, Peet's etc...)

With Lavazza it's all about the blend
Lavazza coffee is wonderful but the different blends are, well, different. I really like the Caffe Espresso because of the heavier slightly bitter/strong but also slightly chocolaty-sweet taste and the aroma. I use a Mocha/stovetop espresso pot so that makes a different kind of brew too.

Caffe espresso is 100% Arabica beans as is Oro. I find the latter a bit rougher/stronger. Then, the wise folks at Lavazza start blending in Robusto beans and for those of you that like super smooth, less bitter you need to try these... Crema e Gusto is at the farthest end of the spectrum - 70% Robusto 30% Arabica and dark roasted (usually they make a medium roast I think), super creamy, nice as Americano or a straight, milder espresso, me I don't think it stands up as a cappuccino. Next in line is Crema e Aroma - 60% Robusto. I haven't had this in years. Middle ground? That's Rossa with its 30% Robusto and 70 Arabica...this might be my favorite as espresso.

There's a few other blends but they are newer and I haven't tried them...

Environmentally Friendly, Functional, Work of Art
I have been eyeballing this thing for a while, but just could not justify buying an $18 coffee travel mug.

I finally caved...

I had gotten frustrated by the fact that I accumulate an average of 4 or 5 Styrofoam cups a day on my desk.

I wanted to be more environmentally responsible. I can use this cup as a regular and a travel mug, so it is versatile.

I also cannot stand drinking coffee out of plastic, rubber, or steel travel mug. I am sensitive (ok i am a taste snob), and I can taste the plastic and metal in the coffee. NOT in this porcelain vessel; all you taste is the coffee.

The other thing is the aesthetic qualities. This thing is functional art. I love the beauty and the symbolic duality it represents of disposable vs reusable. The thing is quirky.

Ok, maybe I am over-analyzing this; it's only a cup. But I am glad I purchased it.

The only thing is, if it slips out of my hand it will shatter. Fragile.

So as long as I am cautious this thing is a good life-time investment in good tasting coffee and helping environment by reducing disposable cup usage.
